Health

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

Holistic health is a comprehensive approach to life that embraces the multidimensional nature of well-being. It recognizes and honours the whole person—physical, mental, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual. In this model, individuals are active participants in their own health and healing, making conscious, wellness-oriented lifestyle choices.

Holistic health incorporates evidence-based complementary therapies and, much like alternative medicine, places emphasis on prevention and overall wellness rather than solely treating disease. Drawing from ancient healing traditions, it supports the pursuit of balance and vitality across all levels of being—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

Holistic health is about nurturing the whole person—addressing physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social needs. It is grounded in the understanding that all aspects of our being are deeply interconnected. When one area is out of balance, it inevitably affects the others, influencing our overall health and well-being.

Take stress, for example. While it begins as a psychological response, it often manifests physically—causing symptoms like headaches, sleep disturbances, weight gain, and muscle tension. The connection goes both ways: physical illness can lead to anxiety or depression. At the same time, spirituality and meaningful relationships can enhance both mental and physical health. Research shows that close friendships can lower blood pressure, reduce stress, and even increase the likelihood of recovery from serious illnesses such as cancer.

As your holistic counsellor, I will go beyond just addressing your symptoms. I will take a deeper look at you as a whole—your health, your life, and the factors that influence your well-being. This holistic approach allows me to offer tailored recommendations that support both your health concerns and your overall quality of life.
