Have you happen to hear of an American author Marie Condo? Her book ”The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up” has been at the top of the New York Times best list. She was also named one of the hundred most influential person. She claims to create life changing magic. So what did she actually do? Is she just of of many modern guru? Does she philosophize about life greatest meaning, or has she discovered the new youth elixir?

Not really. Kondo is a cleaning consultant who helps her clients transform their cluttered homes into spaces of serenity and inspiration. Lovely, isn’t it? But what is has to do with our lives? It does.

Her formula is really simple. It goes like a keep only what is useful or inspires you. If you do not love it, get rid of it!

She claims that many of us imbue our things with emotions such as that for example we hang on to items we do not really like or need. Sounds familiar?

You have probably heard about the story of creation whereas man and women were created on the 6th day – the planets, vegetation, animal kingdom were already there.
Humanity was commanded to ”fill the earth and conquer and rule over the fish of the sea, the bird of the sky”. We were given the mission to use our world for a Divine purpose.

In other words, when we achieve our purpose we soar higher than all creation: when we fail, we are lower than the lowliest mosquito that was created before us.

In the material excess, of our privileged society, have we forgotten our priorities? The Story of Creation is a great example that can always remind us to control our ‘stuff’. It provides perspective on the things in our lives.

Let’s not become slaves to our possessions. Instead, let’s use than to create a joyful and meaningful life and world.
